INCa, a National Health and Science Agency dedicated to Cancers

Last updated on: 12/08/2010

The French National Cancer Institute was created by the Public Health Law of 9 August 2004, in the framework of the Cancer Plan 2003-2007. INCa is responsible for co-ordinating activities in the fight against cancer in France and operates under the joint authority of the Ministers of Health and Research. INCa  brings together  the various stakeholders involved  in fighting cancer around two core objectives:  reducing mortality due to cancer and improving patient quality of life. Its programme is in line with the measures of the new Cancer Plan 2009-2013. INCa thus participates in the Monitoring Committee of the plan, and is responsible for following up the implementation of the measures set out in the plan.
