Translational Research
Translational (or translative) research should enable a two-way flow of knowledge from cognitive research to its application to patients and from observations on patients to cognitive research. Therefore, this involves close co-operation between researchers and clinicians. In accordance with the recommendations of INCa’s International Scientific Advisory Board, this type of research has been strongly promoted in INCa’s research planning since 2007. Since 2008, INCa and the Ministry of Health (DHOS, now DGOS) have teamed up to offer a recurring Call for Proposals (CfP) with the objective of supporting multidisciplinary projects bringing together clinicians and researchers in order to promote translational research. INCa is also implementing a special initiative to support the mobilisation and training of young doctors in translational research. At European level, the Institute has strengthened its ties with other European public bodies in order to implement an ERA-NET scheme for translational cancer research.
