Understanding Cancer Research

In France, cancer research is carried out in laboratories depending on public bodies such as Inserm (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research ) and CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research). Research teams work in particular on identifying  what causes cancers and on preventing relapses . The Thematic Multi-Organization Institute (ITMO) for Cancer has defined six strategic goals among which facilitating translational research so that patients get the benefits sooner.
More generally, cancer research aims to increase our understanding of this disease, as well as to prevent it, detect it as early as possible and treat it better.
