Clinical Research

Recherche clinique

Clinical research aims to improve cancer management and treatment, primarily by means of clinical trials. Studies of this kind may focus on new drugs or groups of drugs (against the disease or its side-effects), new ways of administering them, new treatment, diagnosis, management or prevention methods. Clinical trials, which are regulated by specific laws, provide patients with an opportunity to gain early access to treatments.
The past few years have seen the implementation of new methods to develop clinical trials and include more patients in them.
Information media have also been developed to expand interaction between patients and the public.
Clinical research is also supported by the Hospital Clinical Research Programme (PHRC) and the Support for Costly and Innovative Techniques (STIC).
