Prevention
The incidence of certain cancers can be decreased by reducing or eliminating cancer risk factors. The following lifestyle, environmental and workplace-related factors have been clearly proven to increase the risk of cancer: tobacco, alcohol, a lack of physical exercise and certain physical, chemical and infectious agents. Other factors, such as electromagnetic fields associated with mobile telephone use, require further research.
Risk and Protection Factors
Individual behaviour can aggravate or reduce the risk of cancer
Environment and Cancer
5% to 10% of cancers are likely to be caused by environmental factors
