Organised Breast Cancer Screening

Breast cancer screening, organised by the public authorities, has been offered throughout the country since 2004. Women aged 50 to 74 are invited to have themselves screened once every two years (mammogram with double reading and clinical breast exam), with no advance fees.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Pink October), the French National Cancer Institute, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Health Insurance schemes, organise an information campaign to encourage women to take part in the organised breast cancer screening programme. This year focuses on two initiatives: first, to try to persuade reluctant women using rational arguments (14 impediments, 14 arguments) and second, to mobilise friends and family, particularly their daughters, to encourage them to participate in the screening programme.
